Yanni Embarks on USA & Canada Tour

Legandary Artist Yanni today embarks on his much anticipated USA & Canada concert tour accompanied by a world-renowned orchestra in support of his newly released album Truth of Touch. The concerts shall feature some of the songs from his latest album and some of the classics from his previous performances at Acropolis , Taj Mahal and Forbidden City. The tour will cover major cities across USA and Canada and would include performances at some of the most intimate venues including Radio City Hall and Nokia Theatre.

-The Tribute album reached platinum status in the U.S. within five weeks of its release, and has surpassed double platinum status ( 2.5 million copies sold). The video has surpassed double platinum status.

-Reflections of Passion (1990) went double platinum in the U.S. and stayed at the top of Billboard's Adult Alternative Chart for a record-breaking 47 consecutive weeks.

-Sold out ten consecutive concert dates at Radio City Hall, New York.

-Sold out five concert shows at Mexico's Auditorio Nacionale.

-Yanni became the number one selling western artist in India, reaching platinum status following the airing of the Acropolis video.

-His compositions have been included in all Olympic Games television broadcasts since 1988 and his music was featured during the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 1998 Winter Games and the 2002 Winter Games. Additionally, he composed "Fanfare" for the World Cup 2002 soccer tournament in Seoul, Korea .

YANNI BIOGRAPHY

As a child, Yanni mastered the piano without lessons. He played for hours trying to re-create the music he'd heard on the radio or at the movies. Having perfect pitch certainly helped. In time he even developed his own system of musical notation, something he still uses. But as a youth, Yanni also found room for sports; he is a former member of the Greek National Swimming Team and broke the national freestyle record at age 14 .
Yanni's grandiose keyboard style is both accessible and exciting, two elements that have led to his success in the realm of adult alternative radio. His explosive, pop-influenced instrumentals and romantic pianistic ballads have also made him a popular touring and recording artist for the Private Music label. In addition to his original television, commercial, and film scores, Yanni's music has been used extensively on programs like Wide World of Sports and coverage of the Olympic games.

It didn't take long for the self-taught keyboardist and composer to establish himself as a studio musician, jingles composer, and producer. After gaining an impressive cult following for his first independently released album, Yanni was picked up by Private Music and has become one of the label's best-selling artists.
